Once you start question how much and how often you go out to party, you are in a good position to begin turning things around. Begin cutting back, and if it helps, do so in small steps. For instance, eliminate on night of going out each week. Then, on the nights you do go out, don’t drink as much or do drugs. Going cold turkey is sometimes not the most successful way to fix your partying addiction.
Use your support group to stay focused. Slow down by telling everyone to help support your intent to cut back on going out. Cut ties with friends that encourage you to keep up your old habits. If they don’t have your best interests in mind it’s time to let them go. Find sober friends to spend your time with on nights that you do not go out. Engage in fun activities that do not involve drinking or drugs.
